PCT LASH

Post Date:

I am hiking a 567 mile section of the Pacific Crest Trail starting August 24, 2026. The LASH (long ass section hike) begins at Bucks Lake in northern California and ends at the Kennedy Meadows General Store. The trail includes approximately 400 miles of the Sierra, including the highest point on the PCT, Forester Pass. (I might take a 17 mile detour and hike Mt. Whitney, but that will depend on how I’m feeling and if I have enough food for an extra day.) The PCT follows the John Muir Trail for approximately 170 miles through Yosemite, Ansel Adams Wilderness, Kings Canyon National Park, and Sequoia National Park. It includes six mountain passes over 11,000 feet and I consider the JMT to be some of best and most beautiful trails in the Sierra. The JMT was my first thru-hike and it’s been many years since I have hiked it. Here is an 18 minute video of a JMT hike I recommend.

Eva and I will spend the night in Quincy, California on Sunday, August 23. It is 30 minute drive to the trailhead on Monday morning where Eva will drop me off. My goal is to finish on Monday, September 21st and I am hoping Eva will be available to pick me up. If not, I’ll be hitchhiking to town and catching the bus home!

Check out these links to see where I am on trail and the photos I have uploaded.

Thanks for following along!
