Where’s Loren?

Sometimes when I day hike and usually when I backpack, I carry a Garmin satellite communicator. It tracks my hiking progress in 10-, 20-, or 30-minute increments, allows me to text when I don’t have cell service, and provides access to emergency services…just in case. Currently I have a Garmin inReach Mini 2. In 2027, I plan to upgrade to a newer device which will allow longer text messages and add the ability to send pictures and voice messages.

Below is a map of the Tahoe Rim Trail. I will be hiking the 165 mile trail starting near Echo Lake going counter clockwise. My hike starts July 11, 2026 around noon. I plan to finish on July 20, also around noon.

After I start hiking on July 11th, you can click the map and watch my progress.
I will be posting to my blog from the trail, so check back to see how I am doing!

Future Trips!

Starting August 24, 2026, I will be hiking a 567 mile section of the Pacific Crest Trail. Check my blog for more info!

In 2027, I plan to thru-hike the Continental Divide Trail. Planning will begin in earnest after the PCT LASH mentioned above If you don’t know what a LASH is, you’ll find that info in a blog post! You can the search box at the top of the page to look for it!

Thanks for following along!
